    Unanswered: error on extent of tablespace....

    Hi,
    I create a new istance Oracle PMA and then:

    CREATE TABLESPACE PMA1 DATAFILE 'c:\...\PMA01.dbf' SIZE 500M REUSE DEFAULT STORAGE (INITIAL 10240 NEXT 10240 MINEXTENTS 1 MAXEXTENTS 256 PCTINCREASE 0) ONLINE;

    CREATE USER PM IDENTIFIED BY PM DEFAULT TABLESPACE PMA1 TEMPORARY TABLESPACE TEMP;

    imp system/manager@PMA fromuser=PM touser=PM file=C:\...\xxxxx.dmp log=C:\...\imp_pm.log

    I get this error on one table:

    IMP-00003: ORACLE error 1658 encountered
    ORA-01658: unable to create INITIAL extent for segment in tablespace PMA1
    IMP-00017: following statement failed with ORACLE error 1658:

    I tried with:
    CREATE TABLESPACE PMA1 DATAFILE 'c:\...\PMA01.dbf' SIZE 500M EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL UNIFORM;

    but I get the same error on another table

    How can I resolve my problem?

    Thanks
    Raf

    Post the statment that fails with this error.

    Does import terminates after this error?

    Check if you have enough space for the size of the object you are creating.

    the object actually being imported needs a continuous chunk within the tablespace pma1. if it is not available the error is thrown

    as a workaround explicitly create the table with a small initial extent and then import rows ignore errors ...

    In your 1st example ... The tablespace does not appear to have
    auto extending turned on... You can set the tablespace to autoextend as needed ... Ensure that the drive the tablespace is on has enough
    free space ...

    Obviously any initial extent + nexts extents (because of the minimun extent number) for a segment are bigger than 500m.
