    Maybe i am worng but:
    0 - means full backup
    1 - is incremental from last full backup
    2 - depends on type of backup:
    - incremental: from last incremental
    - cumulative: from last full backup

    It depends on what method you r using. i.e,

    (1) Differential Incremental backup or
    (2) Cumulative Incremental Backup.

    The levels can be between 0 and 4.

    Inboth the case, 0 level is a Base line backup in which all the used blocks of included files is backed up.

    Differential Incremental backup::

    During the level 1 , all data blocks since last level 1 is copied. If there is no last level 1 then it copies used blocks since last 0 level.

    During the level 2, all the data blocks since last level 2 is copied. If there is no level 2 (privious) then it copies all the used blocks since last 1 (or 0 if not 1) level.

    Cumulative Incremental Level::

    at level 1, all the blocks used since last most recent level 1 are copied.

    AT level 2, all the blocks since last 1 (or 0 if not 1 there) level are copied.
