I have installed Oracle 9i (release 2) standard edition - on a dell sever running w2k advanced server (service pack 4 + all critical patches since).
The oracle installation went fine, however when we attempted to create the database we got the following error (we were using the Oracle database configuration assistant).
ORA-00439:Feature Not Enabled:Managed Standby
When passed the next error message appeared:
ORA-001034:Oracle Not Available
Which when we attempted to pass just put the install into a loop (returning the same message over and over) moving very slowly through the creation process (getting up to the early 20's of the install - percentage wise) - in the end the database creation was aborted.
I have looked this problem up on the web and all the information I can find relates to Oracle 8i - and seems to be to do with the archive log.
What I wanted to know is whether anyone had encountered the same problem in Oracle 9i - and therefore by extension the solution is the same?
Many thanks in advance for any assistance on this matter.
Post your INITxxx.ora file ... The database did not get created
because of a parameter that is not available to you or is wrong...
Therefore, the database was never available for the remainder of
You will need to correct the INITxxx.ora problem then create the database and have CATALOG, CATPROC etc run
