    Problem?
    What problem?
I don't see any error message?
Why do you think a problem exists?

    You and me both.

I wanted to delete a thread some time ago but was unable to.

Andrew, here is your chance. 2 of us would like to know how to delete our own thread. (I tried but got an error message saying I didi not have permissions). I am watching this thread ...

Well, I don't know why you can't do that - at least, delete your own
posts. Perhaps not the whole thread, as you didn't write all of it! I don't know anything about how these forums work "under the covers", I am just a user like yourselves who has been "promoted" to moderator with priviliges to delete/move others' posts as well as my own!

I will add and delete another post to this thread in the "normal" way and see what happens.

    Thanks for your reply.

I assume because of your status you will be able to delete your own post. I don't suppose you have another non-moderator account to try the delete in? I would be happy to assist whomever knows how things work "under the covers" if you have them contact me.

Thanks again for your help and your service to this forum.

OK, I managed to add and delete a post like this:
    1) Click on "Edit/delete post"
    2) Check "Delete?" box
    3) Pess "Delete Now"

Is that what you can't do, or is it deleting the whole thread that is a problem?

If you want me to delete the whole thread for you, let me know here and I will do so.

I was able to delete my post fine. I was not however able to delete a thread I started ... because for the life of me I could not find the screen that allowed me to do that last time I tried. There is a new thread ("test thread to check if it can be deleted") out there that I created. I will keep trying to figure out where I tried deleting from last time. I will move this discussion to that thread.

According to the help text that appears when you delete a post, deleting the top post in a thread should delete the whole thread.

Please reference my new thread ("test thread to check if it can be deleted") that I created. I gave follow up there.
