    Unanswered: reports in 9i

    Hello,

When I try to execute a report through forms in 9i, I get an error frm-41213 Unable to connect to server <servername>.

The servername is correct. Could someone guide me in the right direction ?

    thanks,
    P

    If you say so.....
Does the server_name have an underscore character in it?
    -----------^^^^^^^^^
If so, it won't work from Forms.
Is there an actual server process with <servername> running?
Can you manually invoke ANY report through the report_server under discussion?

As part of my standard debugging toolkit,
I have a brain dead, simple "report" which
simply prints out SYSDATE. Needless to say
this can be run against any database and
thru any reports server to any printer or
other output device. If/when I can get the
SYSDATE to behave as desired, I have confirmed
that many links in the chain are connected
    properly & functioning A-OK. Unless & until I
get output from SYSDATE, I don't even try to
get it working from Forms or similar complexities.

First make it work, then make it fancy.

Though the report can be invoked manually, the server_name does have an underscore in it.

Thanks. I will try to change the servername and try executing the form again.

    Thumbs up

    Hi,

Run a report URL for the server to be started.
The URL - http://<webhost>ort/reports will serve this purpose.

Now, when you run the form, the error will not come and the report server can be communicated.
    SATHISH .
