    Question Unanswered: Export Utility Problem

    Hi Guys and Ladies,

I'am new here, maybe you can help me on this.

"EXP-00037: Export views not compatible with database version"
    "EXP-00000: Export terminated unsuccessfully"

An error occured when I tried to execute the file.sh unix command which is for achieving or dumping of oracle database.

I found out that we are using 8.0.5.0.0 export version. Before it is
8.0.3.2.1. I just based on the log file.

I don't know actually how the version has changed since I am are new here. Where can we find the export version of 8.0.3.2.1? By the way, the server is running on the unix operating system with oracle 8i.

    Please help me on this.

    Hi,

The Export utility is at a higher version than the database version and is thereby incompatible. Use the same version of Export utility as the database.

    Sheesh!

    What platform are you on??

Someone had to install 8.0.3.2.1 at some point.
Don't you have the disk lying around somewhere?

In your 1st message, you state that you are running UNIX and the database is Oracle8i. I would be looking for Oracle8i export utility and NOT 8.0.3 ....

    exp under your oracle_home

    Platform

The server is actually AIX operating system. I run the file.sh on the command prompt somewhere on the directory of the server.

Do I have to re-install the enterprise edition 8i for AIX system on the server
or Is it okey to use my window2000 PC and re-install the 8i for windows.?

I kind of afraid to do something on the server side.
Does the export utility comes with the enterprise edition or does it have its own CD?

It is on the Oracle CD .. You can use it from the client side (Windows),
but remember that you are talking to Oracle thru the network and
the data will be coming over the line ... so speed may be an issue
