    Unanswered: Asp guestbook problems Access Database

    I am having problems setting up a simple ASP guestbook. I am not sure what to put in the Server.MapPath so the database can be found

    ie

    openStr = "DRIVER={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)}; DBQ=" & Server.MapPath("dbguests.mdb")

    do I replace the Server.MapPath with my site db url path like this

    openStr = "DRIVER={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)}; DBQ=" & http://www.mysite.com/database/("dbguests.mdb")

    As you might of guessed I am new to asp..

    Please help

    Re: Asp guestbook problems Access Database

    I'm not 100% sure what you're asking, but MapPath returns the PHYSICAL path on the server. So you won;t get an http:// url path, but instead something that looks like "d:\wwwroot\foldername\"

    The physical path returned is the path to the folder you executed the MapPath command in.

    Hope this helps,

    Also the Jet driver is usually considered more stable than the Access driver for connection to an Access database.
