    Unhappy Unanswered: How to register dates automatically?

    Hi,

    I am currently creating a system to register helpdesk calls. What I want to do in Access is to automatically register the date when a user ticks the box for when a call is finished. I have no idea how to do this though and I would be very greatful if someone could find the time to help me with this.

    Thanks!

    Could you tell me a little more about how your forms, queries etc are set up?

    Hi,

    Thanks for the quick reply. I'm still in the process of making it but the structure is as follows:

    * tbl Call (tables linked to call autonumber)
    * tbl Type
    * tbl User

    * Knowledge base (tables linked to knowledgebase autonumber)
    Then calls are added to certain knowledge base topics

    I hope I have explained it ok. Thanks again!

    put the field that will hold the "finished" date onto your form as theTextBox.

    keep the user out of theTextBox with your choices of locked, enabled, and visible properties.

    in theCheckBox_afterupdate()

    if theCheckBox then
    theTextBox = now()
    else
    theTextBox = null
    endif

    ...using the real names for the stuff in italics
