Unanswered: Retrieving date data from MS-Access and inserting into Oracle table

    Hi All,
This is my first message to the forum. I am trying to access the data from a mdb file and insert into a oracle table using jdbc. I am getting problems when I am trying to get the data from the date/time field of the mdb file and insert it into the date field of the table.
    for instance
In the MS-access the data is stored as 11/25/2003 12:00:00 PM. When I am getting the data from the MS-Access using the jdbc connection, it is being displayed as 2003-11-25 14:00:00 and when I am trying to insert the data in the oracle table with the format
    to_date('2003-11-25 2:00:00 PM', 'yyyy/mm/dd HH:MIS AM')

    or

    to_date('2003-11-25 14:00:00 ', 'yyyy/mm/dd HH:MIS')

    I am getting an error
of ORA-01841 (full) year must be between -4713 and +9999, and not be 0.

please help me as to what to do

    Thanks and Regards

    Moorthy

Re: Retrieving date data from MS-Access and inserting into Oracle table

    1. EXPORT it to temporary oracle table and store values in text column
2 . Write a procedure to pick up from temp table and insert into main table
    3. Use to_date format

    Cheers
