Unanswered: Locking records in SQL Server from VB.net

In the application I'm working on, I need to be able to use different locks on my records during certain transactions. I need to know how to do this programmatically from within VB.net. If someone can show me an example of how to do this or show me where I could find some, I'd appreciate that.

    Thanks.

When you say "different locks" - what type of locking do you need ?

By different locks I mean shared locks (this is the default I believe), page locks, table locks. What I'm trying to do is to make sure that only one user can access certain rows from the database at the time of the transaction. That means only he/she can see and update the record. I need to do this from within my VB.net code.
