Unanswered: NOTE: Failed to notify '' via email

I have job in SQL Server 2000 that is setup to notify an email operator upon successful completion.

When I test the notification to the set email operator it sends the email just fine.

When the job is run manually it emails the operator just fine.

When the job is run on a schedule it does not email the operator upon completion. It gives the details in view job history "NOTE: Failed to notify '<operator>' via email.

I have other jobs on the same server that run and notify via email to other operators upon successful completion just fine.

I have parsed MS Technet and the web and did not find anything.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    More information found

I looked at the SQL Server Agent Error Logs and found this for each instance of failure to notify via email

"[LOG] Unable to send job completion notification email to operator '<Operator>' for job '<Job>'"

    Not sure if this helps.

Is there any empty name in your email recipients list?

    More Input

    1. The owner is the same as all the other jobs that are working.

    2. No, the name field is not empty it has the operator that was created with a valid email address.

    Still not working

I set the schedule for every 15 minutes and it notified via email just fine.

I set the schedule for every 2 weeks at 12:01 PM on Wednesday and it failed to notify via email.

My every 15 minutes schedule was before 12:01 PM so I am not sure if there is a blackup out time.

I looked in the "Pager On Duty Schedule" and all the fields are greyed out.

Does anyone know why these would be greyed out?

Now getting an 22022 Error message...

I just tested another E-mail operator: and I got the following error message.

    "Microsoft SQL-DMO (ODBC SQLState: 42000)

Error 22022: SQLServerAgent Error: The client operation failed. <OK>"

I searched the forum and the closest thing I found was to reboot.

I guess that is the next step...

    Restarted SQL Server Agent Service

Instead of rebooting the db server I restarted the SQL Server Agent and then tested an email notification. IT WORKED!!

Now I will wait another 2 weeks to see if the scheduled job will run on its own.

    Arggh!

After the 2 weeks the mail notification failed again.

I manually ran the job and it notified via email just fine.

I did not have to restart the sql server agent this time for it to work manually.

    Any help is greatly appreciated...
