    Smile Unanswered: Recompilation of package

    hi,

    Is it possible to recompile the package specification along with the body? or to recompile the specification without recompiling the body?

    thanx in advance.

    Re: Recompilation of package

    Hi,

    ALTER PACKAGE package_name COMPILE PACKAGE;

    Where name is the name of the invalid package. The clause COMPILE PACKAGE tells Oracle to recompile the package specification and body. If just the body needs to be recompiled,
    run:-

    ALTER PACKAGE package_name COMPILE BODY;

    Thumbs up

    Hi Raseena,

    On recompiling package bodies due to code changes, you only need to
    Recompile the package specification when something about the
    parameters changes in a code body that makes the package body
    compilation fail .

    I think what you mean is...

    If you recompile the spec... you must recompile the body!

    If you recompile the body, you dont need to recompile the spec unless the parameters have changed.
