    Exclamation Unanswered: problem installing oracle 9i on win2k plateform

    Hi all,
    I try to install Oracle on a Win2000 machine.. As soon as I run setup I get
    the following message..
    "Oracle Universal Installer
    Java Runtime Environment not found at C:\Document and
    Settings\\Local Settings\Temp\OraInstall\jre\bin\jrew.exe. Hence
    Oracle Installer cannot be run.
    Please visit http://www.javasoft.com and instal JRE version 1.1.7 or higher
    and try again"
    I installed JRE version 1.4 from javasoft. Still the same message.
    It is frustrating not to be able to even start the install..
    Thanks.

    Soln to ur problem

    When u start unpacking the package the Universal installer copies to c:\winnt\profiles\...\..\ jre.exe ... Please make sure u haven't disabled the access for c:\winnt ..usually it goes without any problem. If problem persists then it is the problem of disk1 of ur installable cds. Please change it.
    Another workaround is
    locate jre.exe in the cd and copy it physically to the directory it is anticipating...

    I think he's trying to say you to check the security permissions on the c:/Wint folder of your win2k server. the workaround hes telling you is to put the cd in the server cd rom drive and go to the explorer window and and try to search the file jre.exe on the cd. Then select copy and paste jre.exe in your win 2k server at location c:\Documents and Setting\\local settings\temp\orainstall\jre\bin\.

    Thumbs up

    HI,

    Open the /disk1/Win32/oraparam.ini file and change the line that reads

    "JRE_LOCATION=.Stage/Components/oracle.swd.jre/1.1.7.30/1/DataFiles/Expanded/jre"

    to read:

    "JRE_LOCATION=D:/iAS101/Disk1/Stage/Components/oracle.swd.jre/1.1.7.30/1/DataFiles/Expanded/jre"

    (Assuming D:/iAS101 is the directory you are installing from)
    SATHISH .
