    Question Unanswered: utl_file pack., line too long

    I want to write in a file using the package utl_file.
    My line is long and the end of the buffer is wroten on the next line
    How can I force utl_file.put_lien to write my data on 1 line ?

    UTL_FILE.PUT does NOT include a newline terminator.

    Make sure your line length is longer than longest string. What you have happening (I believe) is that Oracle is creating a second line once your first line reached the max. I believe I have encountered the same problem. I am not sure it is a simple as 'set linesize ###', but it is something along those lines.

    As anacedent said, the package does not insert line breaks.

    HI,

    The maximum number of characters per line when using UTL_FILE is 1024, including the newline character. So you can't put more than 1023 characters per line.

    On some platforms the limit could be 2000.
