We have multiple Oracle 8.0 and 8.1 databases with database links between them. When a database link goes down I basically delete the link and recreate it. In Oracle 8 I can use Oracle Enterprise Manager (Schema Manager) to do this - does this exist for Oracle 7? If you can't use Oracle Enterprise Manager you can do the same thing with SQL.

What are the exact errors you get from sqlplus when you try:

    select sysdate from dual@<database link>

    All Dblinks are successfull.

missing connect string to other database in server unix was problem.
