    Unhappy Unanswered: Stored Procedure performance

This is the scenario. We have Sybase ASE on Solaris 8. We have two sets of similar database, one on Dev unix machine and another on Prod unix machine. The data in both databases are same, and the configuration parameters of both the instances are same. We are running a Stored Proc in Dev which takes like 3mins to run. But the same Stored Proc in Prod runs for 20 mins.

Can anybody tell us why this happens? The memory configuration in both the instances are same.

The reasons I could think of

    a) Locking contentions
    b) Statistics not up to date // common error
    c) indexes missing on the tables referred
