    Unanswered: Exporting to Excel Template

    Hi,

I need to export data from a query into an excel template ( invoice )

I realize that i can do all of this within an Access report, but i wonder if it wouldnt simply be easier to export the raw data to Excel, and have macros, or vba format it properly....

    any thoughts?
    Cheers!

if you're still working on this, try exporting from a FORM instead of a report.

When exporting from a form to Excel, it keeps the data format of the controls.

For example, if you have "Part IDs" that are numeric, but need to be treated as text (becasue some of them start with 0) and you export to Excel from a report, Excel converts them to numbers and you lose the leading zero.

But, if you export from a FORM, Excel reads it as "Text" provinding the control is a text field.
