    Unanswered: HOW to start some oracle services

    Hi,

    1. i have installed oracle client.

    2. i have installed oracle server.

    I have tested it was working.

    then, i have installed Oracle Data Provider..during the installation it said that since the following services are running could not able to install.

    services
    oracleorahome90agent.dll
    oracleserviceorcl.dll
    oracleorahome90tnslister.dll
    what i did is i have manually stopped the service and completed the ODP installation.After the installation i couldn't able to connect to database the error giving is
    ORA-12541: TNS:no listener

    so when i try to start those services again..it is giving error message like
    The OracleOraHome90Agent service could not be started for all the dll.

    Since i am using evolution copy for testing purpose i can't start thro enterprise console also..

    Give me some suggestion regarding this...

    Thanks in advance

    Hi,

    The connection request could not be completed because the listener is not running.

    Ensure that the supplied destination address matches one of the addresses used by the listener - compare the TNSNAMES.ORA entry with the appropriate LISTENER.ORA file. Start the listener on the remote machine.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply

    Entry from tnsnames.ora
    ------------------------
    sengu =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = Asg-Sengu)(PORT = 1521))
    )
    (CONNECT_DATA = (SID = ORCL)(SERVER = DEDICATED))
    )

    Listener.ora content
    -----------------------
    LISTENER =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = Asg-Sengu)(PORT = 1521))
    )
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC0))
    )
    )
    )

    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
    (SID_LIST =
    (SID_DESC =
    (SID_NAME = PLSExtProc)
    (ORACLE_HOME = C:\oracle\ora90)
    (PROGRAM = extproc)
    )
    )

    Anything Missing? Anything else we can think?

    Hi,

    Issue the listener control status command on the database server.

    $ lsnrctl status <listener name>

    C:\> lsnrctl80 status <listener name>

    If the command fails with TNS errors, start the listener with the listener control start command.

    $ lsnrctl start <listener name>

    C:\> lsnrctl80 start <listener name>

    If the command returns the listener status information, the problem is either with configuration files, a firewall or some type of Network Address Translation (NAT) issue.
