    Unanswered: HTTP Server on 8080

    Hello All,

    I am brand spanking new with Oracle so hopefully the question I ask can be answered easily.

    I installed verison 9i, created a db started it up. When I start the dB it also fires up an HTTP server on port 8080. I want to find out more about this thing but I can't find my way to it through the documentation. I would like to either move it to another port or find our if I can use it as my primary web server. Currently it hijacks the port away from my tomcat server.

    Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Thanks!

    It is essentially Apache.
    $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/conf/httpd.conf contains
    the configurartion directives; include the port upon which it listens.
    Change the appropriate entry, then stop & restart the s/w.

    Arrow HTTP Server on 8080

    Hi,
    The Oracle Http Server on 8080 is not an apache based HTTP Server but an HTTP server embedded in the database for Oracle XDB.
    If u want to change it, then use the below give command as user SYS..

    exec XDB_UTILITY.SET_HTTP_PORT(nnnn);
    where nnnn is the new port u want to assign.

    Hope this helps you out.

    Thanks! That helped a lot. Is there a way to turn it off? Do you know where to doco is about it?

    Thanks again!

    I think I spoke too soon. I fire up SQL Plus at the command line and try to use the command but I get an error that says XDB_UTILITY.SET_HTTP_PORT must be declared.
