Unanswered: SQL Server Performance Monitor Counters

I've always assumed SQL Server performance monitor counters get automatically installed when SQL Server is installed. I recently installed SQL Server on a remote server and noticed the SQL Server performance monitor counters do not appear in Perfmon. Aren't these counters automatically installed during setup?

They should. How did you load the box? Using Remote option?

I took remote control of the server using Carbon Copy and performed the installation by running setup from a file server containing the software. I installed SQL 2000 on Windows 2000 server. I just ran across an article on the Microsoft web site regarding missing counters. I'm going to see if one of their suggestions helps.

I downloaded the tool (Exctrlst.exe), - looks good, I don't have any missing counters
