    Unanswered: oracle erro 3027 using vb6

    can anyone help me, i'm trying to update a table in oracle through code in vb6. the command is rs.edit. but i keep on getting error 3027 which says 'can't update. database ot object is read only. but when i do it through access it eazily updates.

    If you have any aggragate function like sum( ), max(), min() etc in the query you are using to open the datasource, you will NOT be able to edit the database, It will be READ ONLY.
    So check the query.
    If you want to edit the values, open another record set without any aggragate function.

    i'm having the same problem.. i can use .movenext but i cant use
    movelast, movefirst, addnew...
    i can add new rows with the sql command "INSERT" , but i can't insert data with .addnew and .update...

    i'm using vb6 and mysql.. and later i'll be using oracle... i worried if
    that can cause problems to me later with oracle...

    hehehe i found my problem... i forgot to set
    the recordset and connect properties...
    now is all working fine...
