    Post Unanswered: listener problem

    the listener is shutting down automatically in the server machine..
    after some again and agin..
    Any clues??????

    You need to set trace on the listener file and investigate further the trace file generated.

    IF CPU usage is shown high , the system is running out of resources.When Listener attempts to write beyond the limit of current memory it dies.
    If required you can raise a TAR with Oracle support with the trace files.
    Check if Log file for the listener shows any errors

    What OS are you running? If it is a version of UNIX, you might check to ensure you have enough semaphores

    I have seen that the listener get fail in some occasions caused for impossiblity to write the listener.log file. Check the size of that file and the disk space regarding the location of that file.
