Unanswered: Creating good db architecture
This is a basic question on creating good db architecture.
I have a low volume site (300 hits a day) that’s 100% db driven.
I currently have 9 access 2002 databases and would like to merge them into 2 or 3.
My question is what’s more efficient one or two large db with many records or many smaller ones with just a few records?
For example my two most active db are:
witch contains all the site html and is hit continuously as users move around and
witch contains registration forms and is accessed by 3 out of every 100 users.
Since the “Content” db is always needed it would seem to me to be more efficient to merge the two together.
Note: I never use SELECT * in my SQL, I always select only the needed fields.
Anything anybody can tell me on how they structure there sites databases would be good.
