    Unanswered: reorg fails

    I keep getting errrors when I attempt to reorg tables in DB2 UDB 7.2 with FP6 on AIX 5.2L:

    SQL2216N SQL error "-291" occurred while reorganizing a database table.

    how can I fix this?

    db2 "REORG TABLE db2inst1.mytable";

    The table is out of paging space. I need to cleanup the table via the reorg to reclaim wasted page space. When I try to use a tempspace I get the same error. Thanks

    some possible options

    thanks. checked with db2 support

    1. change buffpage settings in DB2
    2. drop index before reorg, re-org table and recreate index
    3. create new tablespace and temp table to hold copy of table
    that is being reorg and out of space. During the reorganization
    the table or table being reorganized must have enough free space
    to hold a copy of the table

    Re: some possible options

    Why is that IBM recommended to change buffpage ...

    In your syscat.bufferpools do you have NPAGES as -1 ...

    If NPAGES is some positive value, then you will have to use
    ALTER BUFFERPOOL ... SIZE to change the size of the bufferpool

    ---Do both table(dms)/tablespace(sms) and temp table require space for the reorganisation? So if a table size is n units wil we need 3n units to reorg it?
