Unanswered: A little help on moving a flat file

Greetings and salutations, just found the site and am really enjoying reading the posts. I however did not find anything that related to an issue and would like to seek some advice from you all.

Currently I have a flat file that resides on one server that I need to export to a new server and place it into a new database that is ready to go. I know there is the load feature, but not sure if this would work. Would I be able to point the database directly to the flat file by using the IP address and directory it resides in?

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Depends on what format the flat file is in. If it's in a comma delimited file/CSV it would take about 2 seconds to convert it using something simple like PHPMyAdmin. If you want to do it by hand it takes a little more time.

But that is the biggest thing is knowing what format the current version is in. And you would actually need to copy/scp the file from one server to the new server or unless you have it locally you can use PHPMyAdmin.
