    Unanswered: ASE Client ?

    Hi,

    Iam a newbie to Sybase.

Are Sybase ASE Server for Solaris and ASE Client different products ?

Is there a seperate component/product called ' ASE Client ' for Solaris ?

What is the difference between Open client and ASE client ?

IS Open client available for Unix platforms ?

I know some of the questions sound stupid, but coming from other databases backgroud, sybase terminilogy seems to be confusing me ...

    TIA.

    Ravi.

    Re: ASE Client ?

Installing ASE on Solaris generates the Sybase directory (cd $SYBASE). In this directory, the setup install the directory including the binaries for the server ($SYBASE/$SYBASE_ASE) and the client ($SYBASE/$SYBASE_OCS). But, in an other machine, you can only install an OpenClient and point in an other machine running the server.
