    Unanswered: View/change stored procedure

    Hi,

    I am new to stored procedures. I have created a database procedure in Oracle 8.1.7. How do I view/change the definition of that procedure? Thanks.

    Re: View/change stored procedure

    You should really keep the source of your procedures in SQL scripts (files) that you can put under version control if required.

    To get the source of a procedure from the database:

    set pagesize 0

    select text
    from user_source
    where type='PROCEDURE'
    and name ='<procname>'
    order by line;

    Spool that into a file and save it.

    Then you can edit the file, add "CREATE OR REPLACE " at the top and then run that script in SQL Plus to update the definition.
