Question Unanswered: reason why logs are written to text-files?

    Hi,

Is there a reason why almost all the logs are written to a text-file?

I'm making a log file right now for an Access-application and I'm thinking of making it in Excel because a text file is static... You can't do anything with it: you' can' t sort it, filter it,...

The only reason I can come up with is that a textfile is universal. It can be read by an PC,Apple... But is that the only reason?

    Greetz,

    Koen
