    Red face Unanswered: Open Client 2 Versions Conflict

    Good afternoon.
    I've got a question
    I have a PC with Windows NT 4.0 Workstation and Service Pack 5.
    I've got a PC Server with SYBASE ASE 11.9.2
    In my PC i had the Open Client 10.0.3 because i used an application that only works with that version of Open Client.

    I've installed a software that requires Open Client 11.1.1 or later.

    I installed that version of Open Client (11.1.1) and set up the System Path so that both versions work together but my Software (the one that uses 11.1.1) doesn't recognize this version.

    Could you please give me steps to configure 2 versions of Open Client in the same machine so that they could work fine.

    Someone says that I've got to change the order of the System Path, for example first the c:\sybase-11_1_1 then c:\sybase-10_0_3 BUT they also say that if i do that the software that only works with the old version (10.0.3) couldn't functio anymore.
    Is that right?.. what other changes or configurations can i use to make them work together???..

    Thanks for all..

    create 2 batch files for isql (and any other client tool)

    E.g.

    --- isql11.bat ---
    OLDPATH=%PATH%
    SYBASE=c:\sybase11
    PATH=%SYBASE%\bin;%SYBASE%\dll;%PATH%
    %SYBASE%\bin\isql -Usa -Pxxx -S%DSQUERY%
    PATH=%OLDPATH%
    OLDPATH=
    ---------------------

    --- isql10.bat ---
    OLDPATH=%PATH%
    SYBASE=c:\sybase10
    PATH=%SYBASE%\bin;%SYBASE%\dll;%PATH%
    %SYBASE%\bin\isql -Usa -Pxxx -S%DSQUERY%
    PATH=%OLDPATH%
    OLDPATH=
    ---------------------

    Question HOW?

    Where should I save this .bat file?..
    When should I use it?

    For example, if I want to use DBArtisan (software that needs the 11.11. Client) what is the secuence i should take to use this Software and the related .bat file (isql11.bat).

    And what should I do if I want to use, at the same time, the software that works with the Open Client 10.0.3???

    Thanks in advance!!!

    Hello,

    I had similar problem a while ago. I contacted Sybase support, we worked together to configure Open Client 11 properly . I ended up with the possibiliy of using Open client for 11 for both applications. Unfortunately I cannot give you exact values of each properties, as I said it was a while ago, but it worked for me.
    Try to contact support is they continue to support open client 10.

    good luck
