    Unanswered: Ora-01034/ora-27101

    I'm getting these two Oracle Error messages while I try to login to sqlplus using any login. I've tried all the steps from this thread:

    http://www.dbforums.com/showthread.p...5&pagenumber=2

    except when I got to this point:

    SET ORACLE_SID=ilnk

    sqlplus /nolog

    conn sys/change_on_install as sysdba

    startup

    I received an error 'ORA-01031: insufficient privileges' after typing 'conn sys/change_on_install as sysdba'.

    My SID = Kamino1

    Any ideas? This is on Win2k Professional. Oracle 8.17

    Thanks in advance.

    Please Try This :

    Open the Command Prompt of the server.

    1. Type svrmgrl
    2. then in svrmgrl> connect internal

    ( No password required when new installation )

    3. It will show connected .

    4. Write startup .

    ie. If your init.ora is not in standard location put
    startup pfile=[location]

    I hope that will solve your problem.

    Svrmgrl

    This did prompt me for a password. I typed in 'manager' b/c it's my system pwrd and I'm told Insufficient Privledges.

    I'd also like to note that the problem came up after my company switched domains, so my server, which is on DHCP, received a new IP. Nothing that I can see in Oracle Configs that point to the old domain though.

    Thanks for the suggestion and thanks in advance for further help.

    Fixed!!!

    Just wanted to let everyone know this is fixed.

    Solution: I was a local admin of my PC, but my login wasn't assiged to the 'Ora_dba' group. I fixed that and received another error

    ORA-12638: Credential retrieval failed

    to fix this I changed

    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS)
    to

    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= NONE

    in my SQLNET.ORA file.

    Thanks for everyones assistance.
