    Unanswered: init.ora changes

    Hello,

    I am using a program called dbxray to monitor performance on our Oracle 8i server running on Solaris 2.6.

    The program recommends I increase the DB_BLOCK_BUFFERS parameter or change the BUFFER_POOL_KEEP and BUFFER_POOL_RECYCLE parameter's in the init.ora file.

    There is 1Gig of ram in the server. Here are some configs in our init.ora file.

    db_block_buffers = 8192
    shared_pool_size = 52428800
    large_pool_size = 70778880
    java_pool_size = 20971520

    Any recomendations in references to setting changes.

    Thanks,

    You have mentioned that db_block_buffers = 8192. But it seems that it should be a db_block_size.

    It would be more easy for me to suggest if you could provide the value of following parameters.

    (1) db_block_buffers
    (2) db_block_size
    (3) db_block_lru_latches.
    (4) no. of CPUs.

    But , the size of the buffer_pool_keep depends on the size of the segments you want to place in the buffer cache for the life of the instance. these candicates are usually small tables.

    Bufer_pool_recycle size depends on the size of the largest segment(s)which is accessed by FTS.
