    Unanswered: Error - Oracle Not Found

    I can't login to SQL Plus - i'm getting the error msg "Shared Memory realm does not exist "

    when I try to use the enterprise manager console it says "Oracle Not Found"

    I'm using Oracle 9i Stand alone mode



    please help

    You did not give any specifics on what hardware you are using so I can not give you specifics on what to check.

    In general I would check to see if Oracle is running.

    on UNIX type ps -ef | grep ora
    on W2K check your services
    NOTE: Please disregard the label "Senior Member".

    "Shared Memory realm does not exist "
    usually indicates that the Database is not available ... not started
    Check the alert log to see if it sheds any light ... (error messages)

    Check if the database is up?
    Otherwise check the TNSNAMES.ora for the correct SID.
