    Question Unanswered: Cg_ref_codes ?

    Hi all,

Can anyone explain me the use of the CG_REF_CODES table?

What is the purpose of this table and its columns?

    Thanks in advance

    Re: Cg_ref_codes ?

This table is used by Forms applications that are generated from Oracle Designer. It contains valid data values for each Domain defined in Designer. For example, if you have a domain called 'Sex' that can have the values 'M' or 'F' then cg_ref_codes might contain:

    RV_DOMAIN RV_LOW_VALUE RV_HIGH_VALUE RV_ABBREVIATION RV_MEANING
    SEX M <null> ML Male
    SEX F <null> FM Female

The abbreviation or meaning can be displayed in poplists etc. in the generated Form to select the appropriate value.

The RV_HIGH_VALUE column is used for range check domains. For example, if there were a domain called 'Salary' that can have values between 1000 and 100000, then cg_ref_codes might contain:

    RV_DOMAIN RV_LOW_VALUE RV_HIGH_VALUE RV_ABBREVIATION RV_MEANING
    SALARY 1000 100000 <null> null>

This time there is no abbreviation or meaning, because you can't use this record in a poplist. The range would be used in a validation check in the generated form.
