    Unanswered: GLobal Lock Timeout

Is there any way to set a SQL instance to a default lock timeout value? From my understanding, this can be set per session but not globally. I think that any thread waiting longer than say 5 minutes for a lock should fail and would like this make the default in some of our servers.

Are you talking about Query Timeout setting on the server?

Maybe. Is the Query Timeout check box in the server Connection tab the default timeout value for locks?

The check box in the server properties is for Remote queries which is intended to account for network latency and other delays. This is set to 600 (the default i think). However, this does not effect the lock timeout limit.
