    DB2 BACKUP Access Denied

When I try to Back up the DB using
    db2 backup db wbvdb

Below is the error I get
SQL2061N An attempt to access media "<media>" is denied

Any quick fix? I am logged in as root!

    Re: DB2 BACKUP Access Denied

The instance owner should have authority on the target filesystem

    Cheers

    Sathyaram,

I am logged in as the Instance Owner and still having the issue. I logged in as all the possible user on the system. Is it possible that the File System is corrupted?

It's v880 Sun Solaris Machine! Thx!

Check the permissions on the filesystem/directory to which you try to backup ...

The instance owner should have write access to the filesystem/directory

just wonder how come that u were loged in as 'root' and at the same time u said that u were loged as instance owner ??

Normally on UNIX systems root is for Unix System Admin and db2inst1 is for DB2 Instance Admin

another point is, root normally cannot backup the databse unless you add ". db2profile" to /.profile (on AIX), also add the root to DBA admin group

check file permision , where you running backup command.

    run backup command

    as

db2 backup db wbvdb to /target directory

don't login as root, login as instance owner.

/target directory , you should have write permision

Let me know , if any questions
