    Unanswered: FRONT END, BACKEND End ? What do they mean?

    can any body help we with the netowrkking terminology Front End and Back end, i dont knwo what they mean?

    Front End : Meaning the forms, reports, modules, macros that the end user will use.

    Back End: All the tables and queries that will hold or manipulate data.

    Also this scheme can be thought of as client server ... The client being UI and the server being the data repository.

    thanks for that help, but im still a little confused about the whole thing
    please could u give me an example of a client/server based databse application. and how would u link the forms with the data?

    How to link? You could do it explicitly with linking via Access or you can use your favorite connection method (ADO, DAO, etc ...)

    As for an example of client server ... Pick an accounting package of your choice ...
