    Unanswered: Merging Tables

    I have two tables that I want to merge. The first table has FirstName, LastName and Phone fields. The second table is a list of the same FirstName and LastName Fields but also has Birthdate. I want to merge the two and match the them up to have just one table of FirstName, LastName, Phone, and Birthdate. Is this possible? I am using Access 97.

    lets call them table1 and table2

    add a Birthdate field to table1

    create an update query as shown in the attached picture or paste the sql code in a the sql view of a new query

    UPDATE Table1 INNER JOIN Table2 ON (Table1.LastName = Table2.LastName) AND (Table1.FirstName = Table2.FirstName) SET Table1.Birthdate = [Table2]![Birthdate];

    this assumes that the first and last names are exacty the same - since this is the linking criteria

    Update Query isn't one of my options in new queries.

    Create a new query in design view.
    There is a button on the 'Query Design' toolbar called 'Query Type' - Select 'Update'.
