Red face Unanswered: ASE 12.5 64 bits Sun Cluster 3.0 : Problems

    Hello All,

We are using Sybase 12.0 and SunCluster 3.0.
The cluster is monitored by the agent provided by Sun and it works great.

We are now in a migration period and we are planning to use
    Sybase 12.5 and SunCluster 3.0.
I'm testing this new configuration on Sun 15K
But a problem occurs with the agent provided by SunCluster 3.0.
You can see hereunder the log file of the agent.
The error "25016" is raised by the agent. If found details about this error in the Open/Client library book :

    -25016 Error initializing Client Library.
solution : Check your $SYBASE directory setup.

if someone uses this type configuration and can help me,
    it will be very pleasant

    Thanks a lot,

    Aurélien

Re: ASE 12.5 64 bits Sun Cluster 3.0 : Problems

You have to purchase the Sybase supplied HA agent. The Sun supplied agent does not work on ASE 12.5 on Sun Cluster 3.0

Re: ASE 12.5 64 bits Sun Cluster 3.0 : Problems

Indeed but we have received a proposition from Sybase for their agent :
    5.555 EUR / CPU and we have 8 cpu on a Sun 15k : 44.440 EUR
    + Maintenance : 9976 EUR = 54.416 € / Year Taxes not included.

    Just for an agent !!!!

How do you know that the agent (SC 3.0) doesn't work with Sybase 12.5 ? Have you meet this problem ?

Thanks a lot for your reply !

One of my customers wanted same to bypass purchasing the Sybase Agent. Apparently they tried everything to get it working until Sun directed them to run the Sybase Agent.

I got on board since then.

    Solution

    Hello all,

I have found a workaround to this problem :
In fact , the agent provided by SunCluster doesn't work because it could not found the "libtli.so" library.
This library has no more the same name and it is become
    libtli.so.${VERSION}.

For instance, i have installed the EBF 12.5.0.4 and the library is named :
    libtli.so.12.5.0.4

So just a create a symbolic link :

    ln -s libtli.so.12.5.0.4 libtli.so

    And the agent works !

I hope it could be usefull for you.

    Bye bye
