    Unanswered: Very Easy SQL Insert Question

    Hello,

    I am using Toad for Oracle Client and have a quick question about SQL insert syntax.

    When I enter the following statement, the data enters into the table without a problem.

    INSERT INTO BDS.TBL_STATION_GENERAL ( STATION_ID, CALL_LETTERS, STATION_TYPE_ID, TRANSMIT_FREQ, STATE_ID, TIME_ZONE_ID, ZIP_CODE, MSA_METRO_ID ) VALUES ('7118','WXTU','FM','92.5','PA','5','','0069');

    The problem I am having is when I try to insert multiple records like this.

    INSERT INTO BDS.TBL_STATION_GENERAL ( STATION_ID, CALL_LETTERS, STATION_TYPE_ID, TRANSMIT_FREQ, STATE_ID, TIME_ZONE_ID, ZIP_CODE, MSA_METRO_ID ) VALUES ('7118','WXTU','FM','92.5','PA','5','','0069');
    INSERT INTO BDS.TBL_STATION_GENERAL ( STATION_ID, CALL_LETTERS, STATION_TYPE_ID, TRANSMIT_FREQ, STATE_ID, TIME_ZONE_ID, ZIP_CODE, MSA_METRO_ID ) VALUES ('7119','WCWY','FM','92.9','PA','5','','0069');
    INSERT INTO BDS.TBL_STATION_GENERAL ( STATION_ID, CALL_LETTERS, STATION_TYPE_ID, TRANSMIT_FREQ, STATE_ID, TIME_ZONE_ID, ZIP_CODE, MSA_METRO_ID ) VALUES ('7120','WMGS','FM','92.9','PA','5','','0069');

    Is this the correct method for entering multiple records?

    Thanks.

    Re: Very Easy SQL Insert Question

    That looks to be valid sql. The problem is TOAD is expecting only 1 command.

    If you want to run multiple statements, click the Execute as Script button or press F5
