    Db2admin Stop

    Hi,

I'm using db2 v.8.1 on AIX 5.2.2. I trying to stop the das with 'db2admin stop' but its show this error:

SQL1092N "db2admin" does not have the authority to
    perform the requested command.

I'm logged in using the user db2admin, this user is in the DB2ADMIN group. I check the admin cfg and its show that the DASADM_GROUP = DB2ADMIN

    $ db2 get admin cfg
    Admin Server Configuration
Authentication Type DAS (AUTHENTICATION) = SERVER_ENCRYPT
DAS Administration Authority Group Name (DASADM_GROUP) = DB2ADMIN
    ~ snip snip ~

I'm stuck..., to start the admin server im using the root account and put the command db2admin start on my inittab file. But using root to stop the server (db2admin stop) it spit out this error:

SQL22201N The DB2 Administration Server failed to authenticate the user "root" on the host "myhost". Reason code "5".

Reason Code "5" = Resubmit the request as a user other than root.

    Best regards,
    Adam Ac

Neither the instance owner nor root can stop the Admin server. You need to be logged on as the DB2 admin server user. The default is dasusr1 unless you changed it during installation.

According to your first post the message was:

DB2 Administration Server failed to authenticate the user "root"

Sounds like you were logged in as root. I don't have any other suggestion but to look at your UNIX user list and see if their is another user you can try.

Remember that when you install DB2 there are three users set up (other than root):

    - Instance Owner
    - Fenced User
    - DB2 Admin Server User

    db2admin

How I implemented in my company is like this.

For example the db2adminstration server name is db2as

Then please append the path in the .profile of the udb instance login.

    export PATH=$PATH:/home/db2as/das/bin

after put that entry, you either source .profile like this
. .profile or logout and login
    then your db2admin works.

    Thanks

    Re: Db2admin Stop

If you don't see any other way around, why don't you kill the server logged in as root and then drop the admin instance. Create it back with default values and see if you can work with it. As this instance does not contain any database or as such, it's safe to do that.

    Solved

    Hai,

I just fix my db to FP4a, and it seem that my db2 doesn't like the DASADM_GROUP of 'DB2ADMIN', then i try to create a new group named 'db2admin' and run
update admin config using DASADM_GROUP db2admin
then i set my das admin user to this group, problem is solved.

    Thank you all

    Regards,
    Adam AC
