    Unanswered: Sybase Replication Server book

    Hi,
I am a Swiss Sybase DBA who came in the USA some months ago. Actually I'm searching for a job around Los Angeles. I saw some advertisements but a lot demanding the Sybase Replication Server skill. I have never worked with it. Is somebody can give me the title of a good book where I can begin to learn by myself or a not expensive online class? Just to have some ideas about this product.

    Thank you,

    Sincerely,

    Eric

    Hi Eric,

Unlike other Sybase products, it takes reading and a lot of practice to get good at RepServer.

    a) Unfortunately, the fastest / best way you could learn RepServer is to get into a job where they already use RepServer.

    b) You could also try setting up your own environment, the best documentation/book you can find is in sybooks.sybase.com Also check out www.sypron.nl for some useful tips.

    c) If you have some extra $$, try to attend the course "Fast Track to Rep Server 12.5" offered by Sybase which is a good starting point.

    Good luck

    Thanks,
    Vishi

Thank you for your response. I looked the Sybase class and it's expensive!!! I very would like to learn this product but I will see if I can find an entreprise which is interesting to hire me after that. I'm ready to pay by myself this class.
It's crazy, in Switzerland I was a good DBA with a lot of responsability and a very good salary but here it is like I'm nothing.... It's very frustrating.... But...
Than you and have a good day,
    Sincerely,
    Eric
