Unanswered: subform filtered when applying filter on main form

Our service department uses a Access 97 database based on data-entry using a main and a subform.

For editing purposes there is a second form with subform and a number of action-buttons that activate filters. Upon using a filter on customer-number the subform opened up empty too with the indication of being filtered.

Going into design-mode, looking into the properties of the subform and returing to edit-mode resolved the problem.

Anyone have any idea what caused a filter to be implied to the subform. We have been working 14 months without any problems. There are just 2 persons that have the application open (it is not a split database though)

I have run a compact action on the database, but to no avail...

That probably has to do with the linked fields between the main and subforms... If the two forms are linked on Customer Number and the customer number exists in the main form and yet there are no records for that customer in the subform recordsource, you'll get an empty subform...

Yes, if no childs are there there is nothing to display. However they are there, but the subform does not show them.....

Anyway, we worked 14 months with no problems and now the problem appears out of the blue (regardless on which PC I open the database)

Problem solved. Someone had added a filter to the subform which prevented any data to be shown in it........

However strangely enough switching to design mode and then back seems to disable the filter.....

Grown a few grey hairs over this one.......
