    Unanswered: Rman Backup -- Accidently Deleted Few Archieved Logs -- Not Able To Take Backup Now

    I accidently deleted few archieved redo log files from the server in release 8.1.7 Now i m not being able to take backup of database using RMAN utility. It gives error during backup for the missing archieved redo log files being not found.
    How do I take up the backup now??????

    Thanks in anticipation,

    first of all do the full backup (Cold or Hot) to be on safe side. and then try to solve RMAN problem. the plus point is that your database is on and running.

    no, you don't need to bother with the hot or cold backup what you need to do is to run the crosscheck command, which tells RMAN which logfiles do not exist.

    rman $target $rcvcat << EOF
    resync catalog ;
    allocate channel for maintenance type disk ;
    change archivelog all crosscheck;
    delete expired backup;
    exit;
    EOF
