Unanswered: ORA-12571 TNS Packet writing failure on exit

From the command prompt I am able to login to SQL PLus successfully. But when I try to exit it gives me the ORA-12571 TNS packet writing failure error. Does anyone know what is causing this and what is the fix for it? I have been reading other post but they all talk about starting a client app not existing.

    Thanks in advance

Is this every time you try to exit ? Or it's not frequently.
This could be mainly due to some network issue.
If you have SQLNET.EXPIRE_TIME variable defined in sqlnet.ora then remove it.
This type of problems occur when the server does not close a connection after a client process has been lost - may be client machine is rebooted/switched off.
You may also want to set SDU and TDU values. Server data unit and transport data unit. Search for - sql*net packet sizes sdu tdu ( not sure if this is platform specific)
