    Unanswered: How to replace characters within a TEXT field?

    Hi everybody,

    Suppose I have a TEXT field, and the data it contains with several '!' characters at random positions. I need to replace them with another character, said '@'. How could I do it? Could anyone give me hints, information about this?

    Thanks in advance.

    I have solved this problem already. It just uses Informix built-in function REPLACE for my task as follows:

    select replace(theTextField, '!', '@')
    from my_table;

    Thanks for all guys who concern about my problem.
