Unanswered: SQL Server 2000 OLAP Services Security for Non-Domain Computers
We currently have a number of salespeople that either have a laptop or home desktop computer.
Those computers with and installation of Windows XP Pro or Windows 2000 have no problem connecting to our SQL Server 2000 Multidimensional Data (OLAP Services) as they are domain members.
The home desktop computers however, have Windows XP Home and I am unsure if I can set security rights to allow them to see the data as I cannot include them in our domain (i.e. I cannot seem to find a way to add these non-domain computers to a database role within Analysis Manager).
We are using SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition as well as a connectivity tool that assigns a fixed IP address to the remote computers to allow entry through our firewall.
It seems our only option is to upgrade these computers to Windows XP Pro unless someone can suggest another alternative?
