We use Sybase as our back end, and out DBA has asked me to eliminate all {call [stored proc]} syntax and any RDO use of createquery since both cause a lot of overhead. In SQLAnywhere I can do the following (declaring variables, calling the stored proc, returning variables). I'd like to do this in VB using ADO or RDO, but I can't seem to get it working using the rdoquery object. Any ideas?

'declare variables
declare@Out char(12),
@InputParam char(12)

'set a value for the input variable
select @InputParam='Testing'

'run the stored proc
exec DB..TestOut @Out out, @InputParam

'return the variable
select @Out ouptut
