    Unanswered: lcase with blob datatype

I have a query which looks something like:

    SELECT DISTINCT col1
    FROM <table>
    WHERE col2 like BLOB('%%.%Wk46-2003%')

note the col2 is a blob column. Now my question is: does BLOB() also support LCASE() function as well? Or equivalent SQL is fine with me.

    I am using db2 v8.1.4a on win2k platform.

    Thanks in advance.

    No,
LCASE does not support a BLOB. LCASE is for converting strings to lower case. BLOB's are not considered strings. On the other hand, LCASE will support CLOB which is a string.

One more query on this front:

Can we search on a BLOB column? We want to perform text search based on blob column value but unable to do so.

    SELECT DISTINCT col1
    FROM <table>
    WHERE col2 like BLOB('%%.%Wk46-2003%')

Can someone tell me how text searches on a blob column done... thanks in advance.

    I am using db2 8.1.4a on win2k.
