    Red face Unanswered: web based application

    Dear All,

    It would be great if someone can give me an answer on this question:

    If i am developing a web based application (with Oracle 8) that will have users accessing the site simultaneously from different locations worldwide,
    do i have to use @REMOTE_CONNECT?

    For examle, for user from an other location:

    select * from mytable@REMOTE_CONNECT;
    ?

    If Yes, do i have to use snapshots?

    Thanks in advance!

    If you are using Oracle 8i, try to make use of PL/SQL Server Pages for developing portal. U need to make separation connections. You will have to just configure the DAD. You u wanna make the site available in the internet, then u will have to get a legal ip address and rest the same.
