    I'm not sure if it is possible to create a read-only Oracle user ...

    However: I suppose there is an Oracle user who owns tables you want to query. Therefore, create another user and grant him SELECT to those tables.

    Somethint like:
    PHP Code:
    (as sys)
    CREATE USER new_user IDENTIFIED BY new_pwd;
    GRANT CONNECTRESOURCE TO new_user;

    (as
    old_user)
    GRANT SELECT ON table1 TO new_user;
    etc.

    (as
    new_user)
    SELECT field1field2, ... FROM old_user.table1
    It should work.

    Ricardo, create a user and grant select privledges rights to the tables/views/etc that user needs. If you are going to do a lot of this consider creating a role with select privleddges and then grant that role to the user(s).
